Mark Jackson gains steam as next New York Knicks’ head coach.
I mentioned on Tuesday that there’s a report out that New York Knicks’ head coach Jeff Hornacek isn’t expected to finish out his contract with the club, even though he only has one year left on his deal.
Marc Stein of The New York Times (via NBC Sports) mentioned that the hot name right now is Mark Jackson, when it comes to who will replace Hornacek..
“The former Knicks guard Mark Jackson keeps coming up as a hot name to succeed Hornacek, amid a growing belief the Knicks’ new front-office chief — Scott Perry — will want to install his own hand-picked choice heading into next season.
“It’s difficult to fault Hornacek for much of the chaos that has engulfed the Knicks during his two seasons in charge. But there’s no avoiding the fact he was a Phil Jackson selection, which could well doom him now that the organization seems intent on cutting every non-Porzingian tie to the Phil era as possible.”
Sam Amico of Amico Hoops mentioned that the Knicks could also show interest in David Blatt, who led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in 2015. He’s currently coaching in Turkey and would like to return to the United States.
Comment below and give us your thoughts. Would you want Blatt or Jackson as the Knicks’ next head coach?
