Unfortunately, things haven’t been better for Willy Hernagomez with the Charlotte Hornets.
It was an interesting decision by the New York Knicks to trade 23 year-old center Willy Hernagomez to the Charlotte Hornets prior to this year’s trade deadline. But it made a lot of sense, since he wasn’t getting the playing time that he was looking for with the Knicks.
Unfortunately for Hernagomez, he’s been struggling with the Hornets after a strong rookie season in New York.
While he only averaged nine minutes a game for the Knicks, Hernagomez is averaging four minutes in five games with Charlotte. So his playing time hasn’t improved. He has yet to score a point while going 0-6 shooting, which includes 0-4 from the foul line.
FYI: Willy Hernangomez is struggling in very limited playing time with the Hornets. He has zero points over 21 total minutes on 0-for-6 shooting (0-for-4 from the foul line) with nine rebounds and four fouls.

Unfortunately, the grass is not always greener on the other side. I wonder if Hernagomez regrets the fact that he pushed for the Knicks to trade him.
After losing the back-up center job to Kyle O’Quinn during the preseason, Hernagomez is pretty much in the same position he was in with the Knicks. It doesn’t surprise me, since the Hornets have both Dwight Howard and Tyler Zeller at center.
Maybe Charlotte plans on moving on from Howard this summer, which will open up more minutes for Hernagomez next season.
