The New York Knicks are showing interest in Slovenian star point guard Luka Doncic.
I wrote on Wednesday that Ian Begley of ESPN has reported that the New York Knicks have shown interest in Michigan State forward Miles Bridges and Villanova wing Mikal Bridges.
Begley is also reporting that the Knicks have already sent a personnel to scout top point guard prospect, Real Madrid’s Luka Doncic.
With Doncic expected to go in the top five and possibly number, the Knicks would have to win the lottery to have a chance to land him.
Even though the Knicks don’t need to draft a point guard after selecting rookie Frank Ntilikina last year, Begley believes that general manager Scott Perry will take the best player available, whether it’s a need or not.
If the Knicks can get a player like Doncic, they shouldn’t hesitate. Worst case scenario, they could always trade Ntilikina.
As of right now, the Knicks have the ninth worst win percentage in the NBA so far this season, so the odds are that they will end up with the ninth overall pick in this June’s NBA draft. I can’t imagine that with Kristaps Porzingis out for the season and they won’t end up with around the seventh worst record.
Comment below and give us your thoughts on Doncic. Should the Knicks draft him if they have a chance to?
