The New York Knicks should call the San Antonio Spurs and make an offer for Kawhi Leonard.
The New York Knicks have already been linked Hornets want to talk with Knicks about Kemba Walker, per report to Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker this season, but nothing is expected to go down, given the fact that they want the Knicks to take on one of their bad contracts.
Walker would be a game-changing player for them, but there’s another great player that’s available by the name of Kawhi Leonard.
Leonard is not happy with the San Antonio Spurs and the Knicks have some players that head coach Gregg Popovich wouldn’t mind having.
Popovich couldn’t help but be impressed with Knicks’ rookie point guard Frank Ntilikina when both teams met this season and he could use a new point guard now that Tony Parker is no longer a starter.
Another player that would fit in well with the Spurs is center Willy Hernangomez, who’s unhappy with his lack of playing time.
Now the Knicks wouldn’t be able to trade only Hernangomez and Ntilikina to the Spurs for Leonard, because monetarily it wouldn’t work out. But if New York threw in Courtney Lee, the deal would work.
Lee is a good veteran player that could help the Spurs in the playoffs.
If the Knicks acquired Leonard, they would have a starting line-up of Enes Kanter, Kristaps Porzingis, Leonard, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jarrett Jack or Trey Burke. Not bad at all.
Of course the Spurs would have to be willing to move on from Leonard. At this point they could still be optimistic that they can work things out with him.
