The New York Knicks are trying to do the impossible, trade Joakim Noah.
News came out on Thursday that New York Knicks’ center Joakim Noah will miss some time after leaving the team for “personal reasons.”
Marc Berman of the New York Post reported that Noah could be out for the next week.
Sources have indicated Noah is unhappy with his situation and the Golden State game Tuesday was the trigger point. One NBA source said Noah could be on a leave of absence for as long as a week.
After the Knicks loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, Noah said something to head coach Jeff Hornacek and was clearly upset by a lack of playing time.
“I thought that could be a problem,’’ said one NBA source who witnessed Noah’s exit, via Berman. “His feelings were hurt. He was pissed.’’
Another one of Berman’s sources told him that Noah thought he would have a bigger role on Tuesday, given the fact that Kyle’ O’Quinn was out with an injury.
Berman also reported on Friday that the Knicks are ramping up their efforts to trade Noah, but the only way a team will take him, is if New York includes their 2018 first round pick, which could end up becoming a lottery pick.
With the Knicks still rebuilding and going younger, dumping Noah while getting rid of their first round pick for this summer’s draft wouldn’t make sense for them. Thanks to Phil Jackson, he’s stuck on the Knicks for now.
