If the New York Knicks trade Courtney Lee, it would be a sign that they’re no longer trying to make the playoffs this season.
With the NBA trade deadline fast approaching, New York Knicks’ shooting guard Courtney Lee’s has surfaced up as someone that could end up being dealt.
After practice on Tuesday, Lee was asked if he would mind being traded.
“Not at all — I’ve been in this league 10 years,’’ Lee said, via the NY Post. “I’ve been traded a couple of times, so it’s nothing new. Only thing you can do is control what you can control, show up, be a professional, do your work, go hard, leave it all out on the court and whatever happens, happens.”
At this point in his career, I’m sure Lee wouldn’t mind being traded to a championship contender that needs a wing to come off the bench and help them in the playoffs.
“If I get traded, I get traded,’’ Lee said. “If I’m here, I’m here. I’m happy either way. I’m alive and I’m playing basketball and that’s what I love to do.”
If the Knicks do end up trading Lee, it would allow Tim Hardaway Jr. to move from the three spot to the two, which is original position.
Ian Begley of ESPN wrote on Tuesday that he doesn’t expect the Knicks to trade Lee, unless they can get a player in return that can help them.
