The New York Knicks squandered another game on the road.
The New York Knicks had a great opportunity to win a game on the road against a injury depleted Memphis Grizzlies team and they blew it.
Here are three observations that I made while watching the game.
Knicks thought they could cruise to win
It looked like the Knicks thought they could cruise to an easy win against the Grizzlies, since they didn’t have some of their key players like Marc Gasol and Mike Conley Jr.
New York was sloppy with the ball and turned it over 14 times. They also failed to defend for most of the game and gave away too many easy baskets.
Lack of urgency
As the Knicks played sloppy and let the game slip away for the first three quarters, they didn’t seem to try and make a comeback until the fourth quarter. They were able to get the game within three points, but after Courtney Lee’s technical foul, it was too little too late.
The Knicks can’t afford to take a second off during this road trip.
Kristaps Porzingis not ready to lead
It was very apparent when Porzingis told the media that he was tired that he’s not ready to be the Knicks’ center piece.
At the age of 22, Porzingis has time to grow, all New York can do is hope that at some point within the next couple of years, he’ll be able to grow into his role as the face of the franchise.
Until then, Porzingis needs more help.
