The New York Knicks need Frank Ntilikina to step up on road trip.
The New York Knicks came away with a very impressive win on the road (kind of) during Monday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.
The Knicks’ bench came through in a big way and scored a staggering 70 points. Michael Beasley finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Kyle O’Quinn added 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Doug McDermott scored 10 points while also grabbing four boards.
The most notable bench player was rookie point guard Frank Ntilikina who had a breakout game with 10 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists.
Michael Beasley raved about Ntilikina after the game.
“Frank’s an amazing player. He has to learn what pace he wants to go. But as soon as he figures it out, Frank will be an easy triple double guy. Easy triple double.” Ntilikina said, via ESPN. “It’s time,” the rookie said. “I know it’s about time especially I have to go out there and be confident and be aggressive. I won’t relax now. I’m just motivated to do more in the future.”
Ntilikina attributs his strong game to simply thinking less.
“I played more naturally,” Ntilikina said, via Newsday. “I did what I can do on the court, stopped thinking too much and just helped my team and my teammates.”
The Knicks don’t have a starting line-up that can consistently carry them to wins. They need guys like Beasley and Ntilikina to provide a spark off the bench and that’s what happened on Monday.
If the Knicks can get more out of Ntilikina on their upcoming west coast road trip, they could end up winning more games then expected. They would need him to score around 10 points a game while also adding around five assists a game.
