The New York Knicks were weary of LaVar Ball ahead of last year’s NBA draft.
The Los Angeles Lakers are living a nightmare right now with all of the negative attention that LaVar Ball, the father of star rookie point guard Lonzo Ball has drawn to their team.
LaVar recently stated that Lakers’ head coach Luke Walton has lost his team.
New York Knicks’ ESPN reporter Ian Begley mentioned on Monday that the Knicks were concerned about the distraction that LaVar could create when evaluating Lonzo during the pre-draft process last year.
Before it was determined that they would pick 8th in the 2017 draft, members of the Knicks organization had concerns about selecting Lonzo Ball because of the potential for off-court drama with his father. This is the kind of thing they were worried about: https://t.co/Cn2iQcjWO2

Of course, Lonzo didn’t have a chance at falling to the Knicks during the draft, due to the fact that they didn’t have a top-3 pick, but it would have been interesting to see whether or not they would taken him over Frank Ntilikina.
With the Knicks being full of distractions over the past several years, I would hope that they would have avoided drafting Lonzo because of LaVar.
As good of a player Lonzo is, he’s not good enough to deal with his loud mouth father.
Comment below and tell us whether or not you would have avoided Lonzo because of LaVar. Also if the Knicks could have drafted Lonzo, do you think they would have?
