Should the New York Knicks think about trading Willy Hernangomez?
I’ve already mentioned that with the New York Knicks’ log jam at the center position this season, they may want to think about getting rid of center Kyle O’Quinn before the trade deadline. But it looks like teams from around the league are interested in someone else.
As the February 8 trade deadline approaches, several teams are interested in Knicks center Willy Hernangomez, per ESPN sources. Hernangomez, 23, has had a limited role this season with New York.
While the Knicks are pretty well set at the center position, but O’Quinn will likely opt out of his contract this summer and Hernangomez is a very young and promising looking center, so right now it doesn’t make sense to trade the 23 year-old.
O’Quinn is a good player, but he’ll be turning 28 years-old in March, which isn’t a bad thing, but they’re better off going with a younger player like Hernangomez to back up Enes Kanter.
Knicks to free up roster spot via trade?
Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News is reporting that the Knicks would prefer to free up a roster spot for Trey Burke by making a trade.
…point guard Ramon Sessions would be the most likely waiver-wire candidate given his small contract and lack of playing time.
However, the Knicks would prefer to make a trade to free up a roster spot.
Comment below and give us your thoughts on whether the Knicks should trade Hernangomez. Also do you think they will trade him?
