New York Knicks president Steve Mills claims that Jeff Hornacek isn’t on the hot seat.
Despite a 1-3 start to the 2017-18 NBA season, New York Knicks president Steve Mills claims he’s still behind head coach Jeff Hornacek and that he’s not on the hot seat.
No matter what record the Knicks finish with this season, Mills is hoping to see some progress.
“There was speculation not on our part but by the outside world,” Mills said, via NorthJersey.com. “This summer when Jeff and I went to (MSG Chairman) Jim Dolan with a plan of how we wanted to build this team and how we wanted the team to come together and bringing Scott in and tweaking our plan and three of us deciding how we’re going to move forward, we just want to see progress.
“We want to try to win as many games as we can. We want the guys to play hard every night. The three of us we’re all on the same page as it relates to that. We just want to see the team move in a positive direction. Hopefully the Brooklyn game was a step in the right direction because it demonstrated the kinds of things we want the team to do. It was good for the players because it gave them a sense of confidence that they were up by 21 in the Detroit game that that wasn’t a fluke and they have to find a way to hold onto leads like that. Fortunately, we were able to do it in the Brooklyn game. Hopefully some learning and some confidence is being built within the game. We’re all on the same page in how we want to move forward.”
Prior to Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Mills reiterated that they’re all on the same page.

As long as the Knicks build around guys like Kristaps Porzingis and Frank Ntilikina while hitting on their draft picks, they’ll be fine.
But then again this is the Knicks we’re talking about.
